Game over ... or one last ski hurrah?

A record August run of dry 20c+ days in Melbourne has been pleasant for city folk but has effectively killed off the Australian ski season in 2011. The pictures from the resorts have been very ugly.

Or has it? A forecast 20-50cms of snow with the cooler change this week could keep the Victorian mountains doing business for a few weeks yet. If you're a beginner, this might mean some bargains if it comes off as nobody is really interested right now. Hot tip - Falls Creek is definitely the go in these conditions.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's reasonably good season is set to get a typical Spring boost with a heap of snow over the next two weeks. Perhaps there is a little bias in that prediction, what with the author's trip planned and ready to put into action!
